About

The mission of the Sanford Squids is to provide swimmers with the opportunity to develop and perfect their swimming skills in a fun and supportive environment, while learning the values of teamwork and dedication.

Our Business
The Sanford Squids initially was born out of a love for swimming in the Sanford community in the 1980’s.  The Squids later merged with the YMCA of the Triangle, making up a valuable part of the YOTA team.  In April of 2008, the YMCA chose to move in a direction away from competitive swimming and instruction, and the Squids were reborn!

The transition to independent operation has been a very good one for the Squids.  We have grown to nearly forty swimmers, and established ourselves as one of the up-and-coming teams in the region.

With the coming of summer, the Squids will be forming the Sanford Summer Swimming League to expand the reach of swimming into the community.  We are currently negotiating with several different teams and pools to create a fun, and educatinal summer swimming program.

Greg Huff has undertaken the daily operation of the Sanford Squids, and is hoping to return the Squids to their former position as a leader in the local youth sports community.
